3 Years After The Tsunami: To a successful End in 2007! Founded in 2005, the Indonesian-German Disaster Relief Committee (INDOGERM-direct) was created in response to the tsunami catastrophe that hit Aceh in December 2004 with the vision to direct donations transparently and accountably to those in need.
What first started off as a relatively small initiative distributing in-kind donations of medicine, food, tents etc. soon evolved to become an official project with its secretariat located at AHK-EKONID Jakarta and a field office and team in Banda Aceh.
INDOGERM collected donations amounting to EUR 6.5 million from over 50 different companies and private persons. INDOGERM completed 30 sub-projects in 9 different districts throughout Aceh and Nias in the sectors of Education, Fishery, Health Care, Child Care and Community Development.
INDOGERM would like to thank all donor companies, volunteers and project partners for their generous donations, commitment and support during the past years. Through their assistance it was possible to contribute to the reconstruction of Aceh and Nias and to help the people by giving them new hope for a better future.
